Voice actress Mei Shibata announced on Thursday that she has retired from voice acting. She explained that while she had wanted to do voice work for her entire life, she had been suffering from bronchial asthma since last year, and she could not keep up with the changes in her health.

Some of Shibata’s notable anime roles include Abigail and Jason from the Sylvanian Families franchise, China Riot in Bakugan Battle Planet and Bakugan: Armored Alliance, and Fei from Deca-Dence. In video games, she also voices Cordelia von Feuerbach in the Atelier Resleriana smartphone game (whom Eri Kitamura once voiced in Atelier Rorona and Atelier Totori); Himiko Kuroboshi, Arius Esquede, and Cindy Looper in Counter: Side; and Edith in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.

Shibata joined the 81 Produce talent agency in 2018.
