Waki’s daughter diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy

Talent agency Haikyō and voice actress Azumi Waki revealed on Wednesday that Waki’s daughter is awaiting a heart transplant after being diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a heart muscle disease in which the left ventricle of the heart enlarged and weakens, making it harder for the heart to pump blood to the body. Thanks to her daughter’s doctors, she currently has an artificial heart and is in stable condition. She had shown symptoms of acute heart failure as she was taken to the hospital. Subsequently, Waki is signifcantly reducing her workload as her daughter receives treatment.

Waki will continue to consult her doctors and provide support. Her family is assisting her to be able to return to work fully in the future. She asked for her fans’ continued support.

Waki initially announced on October 5 that she was expecting her first child.
