The September issue of Shinshokan‘s Wings magazine announced on Monday that Tomato Soup‘s Kanshin Smbat (Disloyal Retainer Smbat) manga will go on hiatus and will return in the June 2026 issue of the magazine in April 2026.

The manga centers on the historical figure of Smbat II of the House of Orbelian. The Orbelian dynasty rules the Kingdom of Georgia under the Mongol yoke, but Smbat II, who has no love of his Mongolian masters, attempts to balance his way to undermining Mongol rule and appearing to stay loyal.

Tomato Soup launched the manga in Wings in August 2023. Shinshokan published the manga’s first compiled book volume in December 2024.

Tomato Soup launched the A Witch’s Life in Mongol (Tenmaku no Jādūgar) manga on Akita Shoten‘s Souffle website in September 2021. Akita Shoten published the manga’s fifth volume on April 16. The manga is inspiring the Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia television anime adaptation, which will premiere next year. The series began publishing simultaneously in Akita Shoten‘s Mystery Bonita on March 6, on top of its publication on the Souffle website. The manga is being published bimonthly until this summer, where it will then go on hiatus for Tomato Soup‘s maternity leave. The manga is planned to return next year.
