New ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ Trailer Reveals Galactus’s Goal

A new chapter in Marvel history will unfold before our eyes later this month when The Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters on July 25.

Directed by Matt Shakman, the upcoming film will introduce Marvel’s First Family to the MCU, telling a story that will have lasting implications for the franchise’s future as a whole.

“Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world, ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ introduces Marvel’s First Family—Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ben Grimm/The Thing as they face their most daunting challenge yet,” the film’s synopsis reads.

“Forced to balance their roles as heroes with the strength of their family bond, they must defend Earth from a ravenous space god called Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). And if Galactus’ plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal.”

Enter Galactus

As noted in the First Steps synopsis, the film will not only properly introduce The Fantastic Four to the MCU, but also Galactus, one of Marvel Comics’ most iconic villains.

The clip begins at a press conference, where The Fantastic Four admit that they were unable to stop Galactus.

When pressed about Galactus’s demands, Reed reveals that Galactus asked for Frankin Richards, his son with Sue.
