Konami Group Corporation announced on Thursday that it will transfer a portion of its business from Konami Amusement to a new company called Konami Arcade Games. The new company will be established on June 2 through an absorption-type split, and the split will be effective on October 1.
Konami said the purpose of splitting the companies is because “the market environment surrounding arcade games and pachinko and pachislot machines continues to change significantly.” Konami Amusement will focus on the pachinko and pachislot machines business, and Konami Arcade Games will focus on the arcade games business.
Katsunori Okita will continue to serve as the representative director and president of Konami Amusement, and Yoshitaka Nishimura will serve as the representative director and president of Konami Arcade Games. Nishimura, also known as DJ Yoshitaka, is a composer for Konami‘s “Bemani” music video games division. He is currently an executive officer at Konami Amusement.
Konami added the impact of the split on its financial results is “expected to be minimal.”
