Marian Price, a former Provisional Irish Republican Army volunteer, is suing Disney for defamation of her portrayal in the Emmy-nominated FX series Say Nothing.
In a complaint filed on July 2 in Dublin High Court, Price took issue with the show’s final episode, which featured her carrying out an “execution-style murder” of a mother of 10.

For those who don’t know, Say Nothing is based on a 2019 nonfiction book of the same name that investigates the murder of Jan McConville, who was kidnapped by Irish Republicans in 1972 and killed. The book follows the story of her children’s quest for justice.
Price’s Story
Price was convicted of participating in the Provisional IRA bombing in 1973 at London’s Old Bailey. Released in 1980, she later pleaded guilty in 2013 to buying a cell phone that was later used by the Real IRA to claim responsibility for the shooting of two British soldiers.
Ahead of Say Nothing’s release, Price threatened to sue over the series.

“Given the context, it is difficult to envisage a more egregious allegation than the one to which has been levelled against our client,” her attorney said at the time.
Now, she has followed through.
What Price Is Seeking
In addition to seeking damages, Price wants an injunction preventing Disney from “further publishing the same or similar defamatory statements.”

The complaint also calls for Disney to remove the controversial sequence from the series.
To this point, Disney has not commented on the lawsuit.
