This year’s 15th issue of Hakusensha‘s Young Animal magazine announced on Friday that Arata Miyatsuki (Impossibility Defense) and Kentarō Satō‘s (Magical Girl Site) Bokura no Natsu ga Saketeiku (Summer’s gonna tear us apart) manga will end in two chapters.
The remote island suspense horror manga is set in Itsuki’s hometown at Sengetsu island. Itsuki left Sengetsu island to attend high school, but returns to the island when his younger sister Mayu gets seriously injured. But upon his return, Itsuki is creeped out by the island’s strangely thorough COVID-19 measures, which include wearing a face mask even while eating. One night, Itsuki encounters “something” near his home. What is the truth hidden behind the island’s COVID-19 measures?
The manga launched in Young Animal magazine in August 2023. Miyatsuki is writing the story, and Satō is drawing the manga. Hakusensha published the manga’s first compiled book volume in February 2024, and published the fourth volume digitally on May 29.
Satō (Magical Girl Apocalypse) launched the Magical Girl Site horror manga on the Champion Tap! manga website in July 2013, before moving it to Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine in September 2017. The manga ended in 2019 with 16 volumes. Seven Seas Entertainment released the manga in English. The manga inspired a television anime that premiered in April 2018 and ended in June 2018. The anime streamed on Amazon Prime Video outside of Japan.
Satō’s Immortality and Punishment (Fushi to Batsu) manga recently ended on March 12. The manga launched in Akita Shoten‘s Bessatsu Shōnen Champion magazine in November 2021. Akita Shoten published the manga’s eighth and final compiled book volume on June 6. Yen Press licensed the manga and will release the first volume in English on January 20, 2026.
Miyatsuki and Ochau ended their Castration: Rebirth (Kyosei Tensei) manga in January 2023. Miyatsuki and Ochau launched the manga with the inaugural issue of Hakusensha‘s Young Animal Zero magazine in September 2019. The manga then moved to Young Animal in February 2020. Hakusensha published the manga’s third compiled book volume physically in June 2021. The company published the manga’s fourth and fifth volumes digitally in February 2022 and October 2022, respectively. The manga’s sixth and final volume launched digitally in April 2023.
Miyatsuki and Yūya Kanzaki launched their Funōhan (Impossibility Defense) manga in Shueisha‘s Grand Jump magazine in 2013. The series ended in November 2020.
The manga inspired a live-action film adaptation in February 2018, as well as a four-episode mini-series adaptation that premiered on dTV in December 2017.
