The September issue of Kadokawa‘s Shōnen Ace magazine published the final chapter of Yūya Kurokami and Karuna Kanzaki‘s Yō, Aquarist (What’s Up, Aquarist?) manga on Saturday. The manga’s third and final compiled book volume will ship on August 26.
The manga centers on Tetsuo, a rough looking guy with a secret heart of gold. In the aftermath of a summer festival, he sees two goldfish swimming in water-filled plastic, unceremoniously thrown in the garbage. He decides to pick up the goldfish and set them free in a nearby river, but is stopped by a beautiful girl named Kanade. Introducing herself as an aquarist, Kanade convinces Tetsuo to keep the goldfish. But it turns out that doing so is more difficult than it sounds.
Kurokami and Kanzaki launched the manga in Shōnen Ace in August 2023. Kadokawa published the manga’s second volume in November 2024.
Kanzaki and Kurokami launched the Armed Girl’s Machiavellism (Busō Shōjo Machiavellism) manga in Shōnen Ace in March 2014, and ended it in June 2022. Kadokawa published the manga’s 13th and final compiled book volume in August 2022.
The manga inspired an anime that debuted in April 2017. Sentai Filmworks streamed the series exclusively on Amazon‘s Anime Strike streaming channel as it aired in Japan. Amazon shut down the channel in January 2018 after about a year of service, but Armed Girl’s Machiavellism and other Anime Strike titles are still available on Amazon Prime and HIDIVE.
